I am looking to produce posters. What nice of printer will be cost significant and fine?

If you are with the sole purpose printing A2 or similar size then the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF500 may suit you.. if you have need of an A1 or similar size then try the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF600.

Canon have a good variety of Wide Format Printers available
Epson Stylus Pro 9800 Professional Edition - it cost about $6,000 however, after the printer is rewarded for the cost of each poster is roughly speaking $3-5 to print and you can easily charge 10 times that amount of money.
To print poster sized metaphors without going to a roomy scale printing operation, you would want to catch a plotter. I don't know how cost effective it would be, but lacking a huge investment it is probably the best choice.

Here is a list of plotters by HP: http://chuck888.stores.yahoo.net/hpdesig...
Get an HP 5500 over-sized color printer. Starting at $7995.00, they produce EXCELLENT competence posters and banners, on a wide open range of thesis types........Vinyl, gloss, matte, scrim, etc.

Check here for adjectives of the varieties.........
