I can't recieve faxes when not at home?

Fax machines tend not to play nice on equal line near answering systems. One or the other will always answer first, unless you're home to override the autoanswering.
No but they will be at hand waiting on you if you have your fax device turned on and set to automatically answer.
If you are using a HP Printer/Fax Turn On the Auto Answer.

It will automatically pick up the Fax.
